This was very interesting and you are so good at explaining everything. We have lots of ivy which apparently rats love. These are a good alternative as I doubt rats would like thorns.

I'm so sorry, the shorts and summer dress came out yesterday and we had a BBQ last night 🙈 And now it's raining 😫

It’s just too small I think. I’ve opted for espaliers of figs and pears. Might squeeze a rose in at some point next year! X

What a lovely job, JP. You'll have masses of new flowers when they are trained to the horizontal. And your steps (spotted in your aiG feed) look sooo good too! I just love weeding and pruning as I find them therapeutic. Who even am I?!😅 Btw, that wall! Swoon.

The flint is so pretty isn’t it! You can’t beat a bit of weeding to make you feel instantly better Franny. X

What patience 👏👏 if you keep you that plan. Dont be tempted to look at any of the amazing plant offers or indeed any plants and you’ll be fine

I, on the other hand have 50 plants potted up and the guys are coming to do the heavy work cutting out the new borders next week

You go for it Susie! In all honesty, you know I’d love to get started on the plans, but there’s no point. Building work on the back of the house next year would ruin it all. It’s worth waiting for. Xxx

Very sensible and you’ll be glad you waited. Builders and gardens definitely don’t mix

Ne’er cast a clout till May be out! 😀 The weeding made such a difference!

Totally agree that only scented plants should be planted and preferably without thorns! I planted lots of climbers from David Austin for our last garden and the search was high fragrance, no thorns, no red, yellow or orange! 😂 Some thorns did creep in though!

I’ve decided against roses here. 🙈 I know! Sacre bleu!

The only climbers so far (still waiting to be planted) are two hydrangeas.

Love seeing the progress in your gorgeous new garden! X

Why no roses this time Penny? I have to say I want quite a few here. Love a climbing hydrangea.
