How to design a kitchen - Stage 2.
A kitchen design course for people wanting that top end look for less.
In this edition: The kitchen triangle rule (which can be broken), the fancy alternatives to that rule (including my very own tried and tested method), how to measure up and things to watch out for.
Well, hello there fellow budding kitchen designers and welcome to Stage Two of my design course. I’m so glad so many of you have found this helpful. It’s been great to get your feedback in both the comments and in the chat we had this week. It really feels like we’ve created our own little gang here. Have you joined our chat forum yet? Don’t know how?
‘Chat’ is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my paid subscribers — kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I post short prompts, thoughts and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion. You can find it directly on the app, or on the website in the top menu bar.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
For those of you who are missing some HORT content, there will be a short break in this course next week as I delve into the world of hydrangea pruning. I’ve literally just pruned all my Paniculata and Arborescens (Annabelle) varieties, so I thought it might be an idea to write what I did down. Just to be thorough, I do briefly go into Macrophylla (mop head) and Anomala Petiolaris (climbing hydrangea) too. There’s a video that will be coming your way as well, so get ready to see my smiley mug on your screens!
In Stage One of my Kitchen Design Course we had a good old natter about what you want from your kitchen, what works and what doesn’t. We discussed the possibilities of extending and whether your kitchen is even in the right room! It’s so important to get these fundamental things right before you start your design.
Read on to find out how to measure up your space and how to get a kitchen design that suits you and your lifestyle. To my lovely free subscribers: next week’s gardening post will be free for all, but to access the rest of this post and the upcoming stages you’ll need to hit the upgrade button.
