I can’t tell you how grateful and happy I am that you said yes to this project JP!
The move from our home of 18 years on Dartmoor was totally driven by me. My husband and daughter took a lot of convincing that it was the right thing for us as a family. I have felt that pressure ever since. Adding the pressure of designing our main living area so that it was functional and homely was so daunting. I spent HOURS looking at magazines trying to find a picture of what I wanted, but of course I couldn’t find it.
I’m quite a creative person but also quite predictable. I was definitely in danger of heading down the ‘cliche coastal’ road.
Then I spotted your Harbour Deck House. That was it! I knew I needed you in my life 😂
Not only have you created my dream space, you’ve managed to make it immediately feel like a home. I will never not smile when I walk into this room.
Lindsay it was an absolute honour to be chosen by you to design it. You enabled me to realise that actually I could, perhaps do it for other people too. I thank you so much for that. I wish many many happy years in your wonderful new home. Btw - the gin you sent is gorgeous!
Only just seen this reply JP. I hope you do bite the bullet and offer your design talent to others. You’re welcome in Plymouth any time and there’s always plenty of gin here x
Absolutely in love with your new home, we moved from our 5 bed country house in the South Hams into a 3 story new riverside townhouse and absolutely none of our furniture was either suitable or would even fit in! If only I had come across JP back then, at least I can now copy a few of his pieces and sneak them in sshhh!! Enjoy your beautiful new home xx
So sorry that I didn’t see your comment Louise. Hope you’re still loving your new home. We moved in officially at the beginning of December and it really feels like home x
How utterly fabulous are you?! The apartment is gorgeous and your writing has settled into the relaxed, informative and humorous text that we all love you for. And the answer of course is VERY xx
It’s absolutely stunning and I love the attention to detail you describe in your approach. Makes me fondly remember our ‘where is your list?’ conversation nearly 25 years ago 😄😘 and that still makes me chuckle!
My goodness, JP, this is a joy to read! Only a matter of time. All you have been doing up to now has led you to this place. You have manifested this burgeoning career by sheer brilliance and hard work and you are being recognised for this! Hooray! I absolutely love what you've done for Lindsay and her family. As always, full of good taste, comfort and warmth. Reading this entry, I see a guy who absolutely loves what he does and this means you translate that love to your projects. People who hire you now ( and they will ) are investing in your authenticity and cleverness. Then you pepper in the info with pace and humour. I'm so happy to be able to be part of your blog and sort if take part in your journey. Thank you. Now, I need to manifest a JP for #mysadsemi 😅
As always, JP - the design, inspiration and execution are all flawless! What a beautiful space. And I love that you created such an event out of this for Lindsay - she and the family (also you and Mr C!) will never forget the reveal - how exciting!
It’s beautiful and so well thought out! Perfect timing for me as we are (trying!) to buy a little eco new build down here is Devon and it is a massive downsize!
I’ve been trying to work out how (and if) I can fit in precious pieces of furniture that I’ve had for years! I’ve been measuring and photographing but still finding it hard! I think I’ll get out on my lawn!
I’m sort of accepting that I’ll have to let some pieces go - hard as bring a Taurean (you’ll get that JP) I get very attached to things and their history.
For instance I have a gorgeous Edwardian table that can happily seat 10 and which my children and then grandchildren sat around. It’s seen so many fun family and friends mealtimes! It has to go though. The round extending table you chose would probably fit perfectly.
Oh Penny I totally get where you are coming from! It’s so very hard to choose which pieces you keep and which you get rid of. Memories make it much harder. Lindsay and her family have been ruthless about it and I think that’s the key. Fresh start.
Lovely jp. I'm working on 4 projects right now and love all of my clients. I always use mood boards too and I even have clients make one. They sure are lucky to have a "jp designed space." Sending love.
What a great project and the transformation into a cosy coastal abode! It’s the best feeling when you see a clients‘ eyes light up at the reveal! Well done JP and here‘s to many more 🤗😉

Ah what a lovely comment! Thank you Hazel.
Such a beautiful scheme. And I know just how fast time flies on a makeover day so all that in one day really is impressive 👏🏻
So much fun though!

Yes I think a fresh start is the way to look at it! Memories live on in our hearts. New memories to be made. ❤️❤️❤️
Laid-back elegance with a beachy vibe 👍
