I’m going to go out on a limb JP and say I think this is your best article yet! Your writing style is just lovely, passionate, yet calming at the same time.
Currently on holiday, but when we get home, I’m going to look at those subtle ways to celebrate the changing of the seasons.
Good morning, I’m sitting here in bed, with my EB mug of tea, reading your lovely piece and now I’ve feel truly inspired.
Such a well written, witty piece. Just what I needed to get me out of bed. Keep them coming JP. I eagerly awaiting your next article. And I agree with the previous comment… I feel a book coming… have a great weekend.
The mention of spinning sycamores bought back lovely memories, (although I was rather disappointed to read that you didn’t have a camel ha ha.)
One of my friends has an old wasps nest which was found in her attic, displayed under a glass dome. It’s an absolute work of art and reminds me of a wedding cake. Nature is a wonderful thing to bring into the home and often brings back fantastic memories of days spent with my family.
I’m really enjoying being part of your new tribe and can’t wait for next weeks email to drop into my inbox. Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend x
Such a lovely read. Your writing is melodically flowing and so accessible - friendly, open, inclusive, interesting - great anecdotes, sharing brilliant tips, offering fantastic guidance, and letting us get to know you a bit along the way. Just lovely. Thank you.
I love this article it’s so well written and such an important post. Anything which encourages the use of the natural world for its beauty and therapeutic use gets my vote. Interesting you mention about rooms with a view. We live in a 450 year old cottage and each room has a view of the front, back or both gardens and it’s a joy just to sit and look out on them. Your work is inspirational. x
This one really resonated with me. Big changes are coming for my little family as we move into our (hopefully) forever home. So totally different from anything we’ve lived in before and linking the outside with the inside is key. Luckily for me I have a rather special and talented interior designer helping me to make it a home for which I’m very grateful. X
I vote for purple bandanas for the gang! Excellent article JP; both inspirational and motivational. I'm still in a slump from the pandemic years and am slowly getting out. Thanks for the extra boost.
A lovely read JP. We also moved around alot (RAF) but a vase of pussywillow and the excitement of collecting Conkers to create a feature always feels like home even now I have my own home. Walking along the hedgerow spotting real finds fills me with Joy. I love your canopy looking out at the silver birch.
I love bringing things in from outside and also capturing the colours of fauna and flora. You always manage to give a sense of the reader being there with you, seeing, smelling touching the items with the expressive writing. ❤️❤️❤️
This post is talking my language! 🌱💫 Especially the bit about moving walls and adding windows to get as much natural light as possible. Essential! Have a lovely day x
Love this JP! Although I was born in the UK most of my childhood and teenage years was spent in the Caribbean. So living in the UK, I was only used to one 2 seasons, summer and rain. I could remember Mr S having to go out in the cold to tidy the garden in late autumn early winter as I was too depressed to do so. Today, I 'm now embracing all the seasons or at least trying to. Thanks JP for reminding me that every second counts xx
Oh that’s so interesting Marcelle! Yes, you’re so right. I remember the two seasons from my days working in the Caribbean. When I first came back to the U.K. I too was depressed. 🤣🤣 To be fair, I still struggle with winter, but that’s why I do so much to make it special. The only time I haven’t been able to conquer yet is that time after Christmas through January. Any ideas on that one, let me know!

You MUST have a book or two in you….?
Wendy you’ve made my day. Thank you. I’m hoping there’s a fair few books in me.
Do it JP! There’s enough of us that would advance order on here alone
🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’m in !
Totally agree with you, Wendy
Thank you Jo x

Oh now that is treasure! I’d love an old bees nest. Displaying it under a dome is genius too. Thank you Claire sand have the best day.

Whoever designed that house knew exactly what they were doing! Thank you so much Lynne.

🤣🤣 flattery will get you everywhere Lindsay!
😂 but true. Left to my own devices I would have panicked and made bad choices!
Please can we see those coffee table bobbins?!
Yes! I’ll either put a photo in next week’s post, or put a photo on notes here. Still trying to find my way around.

That’s a great idea!
"A slightly mad seasonal styling, natural dead crap hunting gang" - LOVE it JP! Please can I be part of your gang?
Founding member darling, founding member! 🤣💝
The honour. I think we should all have crowns

That’s exactly it Ruth. The tiniest of natural touches can make a home.

I’m all about the light. In the U.K. we need as much as we can get. Thank you for reading Victoria.

Fabulous piece of writing and the photos are works of art, but hope you aren't moving just yet!
And thank you! 💝
Not just yet!
