Amazing just love it. Moved Friday but my belongings didn’t arrive until yesterday. I am currently surrounded by a mountain of boxes and I’m a bit OCD so I’m 😱🫣😩 however Rome wasn’t built in a day and I am following your moving guidance 😁 Will have to send you some pics. Look forward to reading the next chapter xx
Oh my goodness, JP! What a wonderful read this is. And all I kept thinking was that you were dreaming for a house by the sea and how serendipity had it's way and led you here. And, all so interesting, the detail you share from your research. How forward thinking to include gardens and space under the house for boat and car.
Also, I have to mention that your first paragraph is probably the most alluring composition of words I have read in ages. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Wowzers! Thank you for your last comment Franny about the first paragraph. The architect was so forward thinking in almost every aspect with the design. What a clever man he was.
Thanks for sharing your extensive research JP. It makes for a very interesting read. I'll plan a trip along the coast to come to see the deckhouses for myself sometime soon.
I can imagine the excitement when you finally got the keys JP . They are fabulous . Lofty living over the sea what’s not brilliant about that ..brilliant architecture. I’ve enjoyed reading this insight X
I’m going to thoroughly enjoy this series JP. Having stayed in May it’s lovely to see and hear how you brought it back to life so beautifully. The history is fascinating and your attention to detail incredible x
You know just how much I adore these fabulous deck houses. I just love that there's a handbook for them. History right in your hand! We used to photocopy it for any new tenants. I love the depth of enquiry you've made JP, the houses on stilts are wonderful iconic buildings! 🖤🤍Can't wait for next week's installment 💙 xx
It does seem an age! It’s great to write it down in more detail than you can with Instagram! Articles are a great way of documenting and sharing the journey! More depth than instagram! X
It was better when it was mainly photographs and captions, because people could zoom in and would actually read a long explanation. Now you’d be lucky if they read the first sentence! 🤣 I’m very glad Substack is here for people that like to read.
Brought back memories of the renovation and our stays at the HDH - lovely! Wonderful holidays. XxM
Good to reminisce sometimes Marion. Lots more coming up next week. Hope you’re both well. Xx
❤️❤️❤️thank you, this is really interesting
Thank you Sir.
So interesting and even more so having stayed there. Such an amazing place JP.xx
Thanks for reading it Donna. How’s your move/new house?

Thank you Vicky. They are quite special indeed.
Love this. I remember when you were doing this!
I remember thinking how the hell we were going to renovate it with a potential second lockdown looming Mary. Such a strange time.

Thank you so much Debbie. The history was so important to me as it hugely helped with the redesign and remodelling.

Love the history of it and Emsworth sounds a lovely place to visit.
It’s a small village, but it packs a punch Sandra x
