Midweek Musings #2
A short renovation video update, Wicked Little Letters and a fab new gin.
I’m currently covered in dust and as sweaty as a navvy with a turtle neck on. I’ve been high up on a ladder all day scraping varnish off the oak beams ready for the installation of our fancy switchable glass panels. Mid-scrape it occurred to me that you may want to know a little about what’s going on, so I’ve made a short little video for you. I’m using a very special completely eco-friendly paint and varnish stripper, it’s bloody marvellous stuff. Dark wooden beams can be a complete nightmare to lighten and there are many ways in which to do it, one of which doesn’t involve any stripping of the wood at all. Is this something you’d be interested to know about? If so, then let me know in the comments.
Before I show you the video (if you can’t wait then it’s down below) I thought I’d tell you about a fab movie I saw on Netflix the other day and also a lovely gin that’s perfect for summer.
Wicked Little Letters stars the brilliant Olivia Coleman, probably my favourite British actor of the last decade, as Edith Swan. She’s been receiving some rather rude letters peppered with hilarious profanities and she’s rather upset about it all. Jessie Buckley plays foul-mouthed Rose Gooding, who ends up getting the blame and charged with the crime. But, the town’s womenfolk begin to investigate as something just doesn’t seem right. It’s an all star cast including Timothy Spall, Eileen Atkinson and Anjana Vasan, who is utterly superb in the role of PC Gladys Moss. It’s one of the funniest films we’ve seen in a long time. Enjoy.
