JP Loves: Summery things you didn’t know you needed.
…and a few you really don’t need at all, but they were funny!
Hello and welcome to my occasional series called JP Loves. The last time was Valentine’s Day, so it’s well overdue. I’ve had so much fun compiling this funny summery list for you. It’s full of gadgets, homewares, garden inventions and summer holiday must-haves. Some of them are going to blow your mind! There are lots of photos, so this email may appear clipped or truncated. It’s been a deliciously hot and rather unusual week here in Emsworth and I’ve very much enjoyed myself. If you didn’t know, we own and run a rather peculiar little house on stilts by the sea, which we rent out (there’s a little series on it coming up very soon). We rarely get to stay there ourselves, but we do make sure that we always book out birthdays and national holidays. Life is way too short to not enjoy the things you’ve been striving all your life to make a reality. We’ve been celebrating a birthday, went out on our boat a few times, got sloshed on a wine tour and even visited a lovely garden, which I’ll be telling you all about soon.
Our friends who live on one of the boats in the marina, got married last weekend. They run a wonderful group of upscale yurts below a canopy of lush green pine trees on the peninsula. They had their evening bash there and although we can see it directly in front of us at our deckhouse, we’d never actually set foot on its enchanting meandering pathways. Here’s a little video so you can see for yourself. It’s less than a minute long. When I zoom in, that’s our little deckhouse. It’s also the place where I nursed a raging hangover the next day.
Life in our deckhouse is quite different from the one we have at home and it occurred to me that you lovely lot might like to know about some of the summery home and garden items we use there, so I’ve listed those for you. But, it sent me down a rabbit hole of unusual ‘must have’ summer gadgets and I found some absolute gems that you will either need to buy, or will have you howling. Enjoy.
