Hey everyone, hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine wherever you are. Just a short post from me this afternoon to tell you about my visit to Petersham Nurseries yesterday to celebrate the launch of my friend, interiors writer and stylist
’s new book Cocoon.Ali and I have mutual friends and she also wrote about my holiday home The Harbour Deckhouse for Country Homes & Interiors, as well as 25 Beautiful Homes, with photography by the incredible Brent Darby, who incidentally, is the photographer for Cocoon.
Back in 2021, I reviewed her book Curate. You can find it on my old blog here. I recall one paragraph from that review that seems pertinent today:
“Every now and again an interiors book comes out that truly feeds my soul. A book, so beautifully and painstakingly created as to take over my whole-being while I thumb through its inspirational pages. It ignites in me a burning hunger for an impromptu visit to my nearest flea market, that old curiosity shop I found in Arundel and that woodland I remember that had an abundance of lichen-covered branches strewn across the forest floor.”
The third book in the series after Create in 2023, Cocoon will be, I promise you, another world-wide hit because it is so much more than another interiors coffee table book. This one, you will actually read as well as delight in the exquisite imagery. After only reading the first few pages this morning and thumbing through the stunning photography, I am certain it’s a book that you guys will absolutely love, so I thought I’d pop on to show you.
“In her much-anticipated third book, COCOON, Ali Heath explores a way of decorating that is so much more than just a look or style - it's about taking a holistic approach, drawing upon all our senses, not just the visual, and connecting us more meaningfully to ourselves and our surroundings. Featuring everything from small inner-city sanctuaries to spacious island retreats, COCOON celebrates a design ethos that speaks to the heart.”
I spent a delightful morning at Petersham Nurseries, listening to Ali speak about how the book came about, the publishing process and the spirit of cocooning. We were served a scrumptious breakfast in the most beautiful of settings and received a signed copy of the book, which I will cherish. Once I’ve finished reading, it will join her other two books on a shelf that she once styled at our deckhouse.

If you haven’t been to Petersham Nurseries, then please do go. There is nothing like it, a delicious blend of cottage garden plants, antique treasures, atmospheric dining, all styled to absolute perfection.

You can get hold of a copy of Cocoon here. Enjoy!
